Many times a good captain can do a fine job for you bycounseling the team regarding their training habits. Quiteoften a strong captain can make the boys follow goodtraining techniques through his own leadership. Managers The student manager can be very good for the team ifhe is trained properly. He can relieve the coach of manyresponsibilities on game nights by performing such dutiesas taking care of the visiting teams needs, providing towelsfor the home team, keeping statistic charts, and perform-ing other duties. I like to keep two managers, one an upper-classman and the other an underclassman. This way I al-ways have an experienced manager coming up every year.My managers keep our statistic charts during practice ses-sions as well as during the games. During the games theytabulate the results of the shot charts and give the informa- .tion to me in the dressing room before I ever begin talkingto the boys. A very fine book has recently been publishedfor student managers. |
